Best bars in Stratford for post-work drinks
The good days, the bad days, the neither up nor down days – sometimes post-work drinks are required. If you’re fortunate enough to work in the Stratford area, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to exceptional drinking spots. Here are just a few of our favourite bars in Stratford.
For a view: Haugen
Rooftop bars in Stratford – a novelty that’s often reserved for the warmer months. But not necessarily at Haugen. Based at IQL’s timber masterpiece, the Pavilion, the restaurant is spread across three floors and inspired by the stylish ski resorts of the Alps. This means that even in winter, you can clad yourself in complimentary fur throws, under a heater, and take in, what are arguably, some of the best views in London.
The outdoor, rooftop terrace is also often home to Haugen’s live DJ sets and music events, so be sure to check out the website to find out what’s on.
For sophisticated cocktails: The Mezzanine
For the times when something stronger is required, there’s no tastier way to do it, than with cocktails.
The Mezzanine at The Stratford takes inspiration from the New York bar scene, much like the rest of the hotel itself. This means it’s a pretty good option if you’re looking to live out your Sex and the City dreams in London. Expect premium spirits, international Whiskies, and a cocktail list inspired by the types of people frequenting the bar.
Thursdays at The Mezzanine are making quite a name for themselves with the Open Deck Collective. If you’re a music and vinyl lover, this is the place to catch some of London’s freshest DJ talent or try your hand yourself! That’s right – the decks are open to any budding DJ.
For wine: Darkhorse
Darkhorse by name, dark horse by nature! This restaurant and bar, located on Victory Parade, has only really gained a big name for itself in the last few years. Known for its quality food, it also features an extensive and well-selected wine list.
The interiors are dark and atmospheric and during the summer months there is a park-side, al fresco dining area which is a great location for post-work wine.
There’s also a tasty selection of ports and sherries on offer too if that’s your thing.
For casual pints: The Cow
Sitting, conveniently, where IQL meets Westfield, The Cow is a casual watering hole with an extensive selection of beer, cider and traditional pub fayre.
Open from breakfast ‘til late, it caters for all occasions and offers a great pub quiz if you fancy yourselves winners. It’s also a great choice if there’s a large group of you, given that it serves beer, cider, wine, cocktails, coffees, soft-drinks – essentially catering for all tastes.
For nibbles too: Pitch
An evening of drinks is often best accompanied by nibbles. If you’re looking for some sustenance with your beverages, why not try Pitch, Stratford. The outdoor venue is home to some of London’s favourite street food providers and pop-ups, as well as a Tiki inspired bar serving up craft beers, wine and cocktails.
The terrace area is also home to a 196 inch HD screen which shows films, events, sports and more throughout the year. Live music is also on the calendar with weekly sets and performances. Pitch up Fridays is sold as the ultimate post-work celebration. Food, drinks and live music. We’re there.
